A term people often use to express a spectrum of identities and orientations that are counter to the mainstream. Queer is often used as a catch-all to include many people, including those who do not identify as exclusively straight and/or folks who have non-binary or gender-expansive identities. This term was previously used as a slur, but has been reclaimed by many parts of the LGBTQIA+ movement.Queer is an identity rooted in defiance and pride. 

社会的主流や価値観に反するアイデンティティや方向性を持つ人々を表現するためによく使われる言葉（特に・主に当事者に使われる）。ノンバイナリーやより流動的な性自認や性的指向を持つ人を全般的にクィアと呼ぶことも。クィア（Queer)とは英語で「奇妙な」「変質な」を意味する言葉で、以前は同性愛者やその他性的少数派を中傷する言葉として使われていたが、LGBTQIA+運動がその差別用語をあえて自分達の物とし、愛と尊敬に満ちたアイデンティティー、（自分達を指す）呼び名へと変えていった。反抗とPRIDEの精神を色濃く表現している用語・アイデンティティーである。
